On January 1, 2018, employers in Washington State are required to provide paid sick leave to their employee. Employees have been accruing – and using – sick leave since then. If an employee has unused paid sick leave balances of 40 hours or less, then you must carry over those hours from year to year – but ONLY if they are less than 40 hours of paid sick leave.
