Granite Falls IGA Honored with WFIA 2024-25 Retailer of the Year Award

If you’re looking for the epitome of a community grocer, look no further than the Granite Falls IGA. Located just 17 miles east of Everett, the family owned and operated grocery store exemplifies what it means to be an independent grocer and is a big part of why they’re the 2024-25 Washington Food Industry Association’s Retailer of the Year.

The announcement was made Tuesday, June 3 during a surprise visit to the store.

WFIA President & CEO Tammie Hetrick said owners Tanya Murray and her brother, Tyler Trask, have remained true to the family’s commitment to being community driven and hometown proud.

“Tanya and Tyler work closely with the Granite Falls community to offer value on their shelves, ensuring access to fresh food and groceries to all in this small corner of Snohomish County. As a retailer, Granite Falls IGA is part of the fabric of the local community and is always responsive to the needs of their neighbors, said Hetrick.

From the Halloween pumpkin painting contest to holiday meals and free Santa photos Granite Falls IGA has built a model that pairs community engagement with strategic sale events. The store is also an active supporter of the local food bank, partnering to provide holiday meals for individuals and families in need.

“Independent grocers play a pivotal role in the health and well-being of their local communities. They are a lifeline to people here in so many ways, and that’s what makes people like Tanya and Tyler so very special,” said Hetrick. “As retailer of the year, Granite Falls IGA shows what being an independent grocer is all about.”
