Congratulations to Michael Le, who placed third in the National Best Bagger Competition, held Monday night at the National Grocers Association (NGA) Show in Las Vegas. Le, a courtesy clerk at Rosauers #29 on North Division Street, was the top grocery bagger in the state competition hosted by the Washington Food Industry Association (WFIA).
Contestants are judged by speed of bagging, proper bag-building technique, weight distribution in the bag, as well as style, attitude and appearance. As second runner-up (third place overall), Le takes home a cash prize of $1,000 – and “bagging rights.”
“Michael brings such a positive energy and sense of pride to his work for Rosauers. “Courtesy clerks are an important part of the grocery store experience. He is an excellent brand ambassador for the store and for our industry,” said WFIA President & CEO Tammie Hetrick. “The competition at the national level is always fierce. Michael did a great job representing Washington state and his home store. Now, Rosauers customers will know their groceries are in good hands if he’s at the check stand.”
The NGA Best Bagger Championship, generously sponsored by PepsiCo, is the culminating event of a yearlong nationwide contest, in which the winning contestant from each participating state is eligible to compete in the annual national Best Bagger Championship.
